We are proud to be made up of all ages – from newborn babies to people in their upper 90s – and proud to be a warm place that tries our best to serve and love all people in God’s name.\n\nOur church has a long history dating to 1838. \u00a0Our church helped in the start of the town’s Food Pantry<\/a>, as well as helped to start Terry Nursery School and Eli Terry Retirement Community. \u00a0In 1967, our church building was destroyed by fire. \u00a0Rebuilt in 1969, our church has remained a centerpiece in the community. \u00a0We try our best to partner with our community in as many ways as possible and to help and serve as many as we can, shining God’s light and sharing God’s love in the world.\n\nWe are a member of the United Church of Christ\u00a0(UCC)<\/a>. \u00a0No matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you’re welcome here! The UCC’s National Offices are in Cleveland, OH, and we are partnered with other churches in our state through the Southern New England Conference of the UCC<\/a> which includes ownership of Silver Lake Conference Center in Sharon, Conn.<\/a>\n\nSunday worship and Sunday school at 10am – join us! \u00a0(Summer worship at 9:30am)<\/strong>\n\nOur Mission<\/span><\/strong>: \u00a0The avowed purpose of this Church shall be to worship God; to teach and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and our Judeo-Christian faith story; to celebrate the sacraments; to realize Christian fellowship and unity within this Church and the Church Universal; to render loving service toward others; and to strive for righteousness, justice and peace.<\/i>\n\nOur Vision<\/span><\/strong>: \u00a0Terryville Congregational Church strives to be a warm and hospitable place of welcome and of Christ\u2019s good news, a place that is open to the creative ideas of God\u2019s Spirit, a place that shepherds its people and reaches out to others and all the while a place that encourages community partnership\u2026 a place that has fun while nurturing the Christian journey, while communicating and living its mission.<\/i>\n\nUnited Church of Christ Statement of Faith in the form of a doxology<\/em><\/strong><\/span>\n\nWe believe in you, O God, Eternal Spirit, God of our Savior Jesus Christ and our God, and to your deeds we testify:\n\nYou call the worlds into being, create persons in your own image,and set before each one the ways of life and death.\n\nYou seek in holy love to save all people from aimlessness and sin.\n\nYou judge people and nations by your righteous will declared through prophets and apostles.\n\nIn Jesus Christ, the man of Nazareth, our crucified and risen Savior, you have come to us and shared our common lot, conquering sin and death and reconciling the world to yourself.\n\nYou bestow upon us your Holy Spirit, creating and renewing the church of Jesus Christ, binding in covenant faithful people of all ages, tongues, and races.\n\nYou call us into your church to accept the cost and joy of discipleship, to be your servants in the service of others, to proclaim the gospel to all the world and resist the powers of evil,to share in Christ’s baptism and eat at his table, to join him in his passion and victory.\n\nYou promise to all who trust you forgiveness of sins and fullness of grace, courage in the struggle for justice and peace, your presence in trial and rejoicing, and eternal life in your realm which has no end.\n\nBlessing and honor, glory and power be unto you.\n\nAmen.","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
