{"id":792,"date":"2014-11-10T13:55:24","date_gmt":"2014-11-10T13:55:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/terryvillecongregationalchurch.org\/?page_id=792"},"modified":"2026-03-03T17:12:09","modified_gmt":"2026-03-03T17:12:09","slug":"about-us-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/terryvillecongregationalchurch.org\/?page_id=792","title":{"rendered":"About Us &#8211; our mission, vision &#038; statement of faith"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Located in the beautiful southeast corner of Litchfield County, in the town of Plymouth &#8211; accessible to Waterbury, Bristol, and even Hartford &#8211; we are a loving, giving &amp; caring congregation of approximately 250 members (attendance is about 70-100 in worship on Sundays). \u00a0We are proud to be made up of all ages &#8211; from newborn babies to people in their upper 90s &#8211; and proud to be a warm place that tries our best to serve and love all people in God&#8217;s name.<\/p>\n<p>Our church has a long history dating to 1838. \u00a0Our church helped in the start of the town&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/plymouthfoodpantry.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Food Pantry<\/a>, as well as helped to start Terry Nursery School and Eli Terry Retirement Community. \u00a0In 1967, our church building was destroyed by fire. \u00a0Rebuilt in 1969, our church has remained a centerpiece in the community. \u00a0We try our best to partner with our community in as many ways as possible and to help and serve as many as we can, shining God&#8217;s light and sharing God&#8217;s love in the world.<\/p>\n<p>We are a member of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ucc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">United Church of Christ\u00a0(UCC)<\/a>. \u00a0No matter who you are or where you are on life&#8217;s journey, you&#8217;re welcome here! The UCC&#8217;s National Offices are in Cleveland, OH, and we are partnered with other churches in our state through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sneucc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Southern New England Conference<\/a>, which includes ownership of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.silverlakect.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Silver Lake Conference Center<\/a> in Sharon, CT.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sunday worship and Sunday school at 10am &#8211; join us!
