We are so proud to have hosted the Field of Flags on our front lawn from June 28-July 19, 2013. The Field of Flags was started by the Somers Congregational Church as a way to honor our military heroes. There is one flag per every American casualty in Iraq & Afghanistan. The Field was officially retired during a special service at the Somers church in the summer of 2014.
At the time it was displayed at our church, there were 6,728 flags representing 6,728 lives (casualties in Iraq & Afghanistan as of June 28, 2013).
We had a special service of dedication during worship on Sunday, June 30 at 10am. Thank you to everyone who helped with the Field. And thank you to all of our military men and women who serve our country, their families and their communities!
In addition to hosting the Field of Flags, our church collects weekly donations to help local military men & women. We mail care packages to those who are serving, and we partner with the community in any way we can to support all our service men and women and veterans.
